Painted during winter. I wanted to paint a realistic painting of a hand holding a candle with the wax melting down it, focusing heavily on the realistic textures and lighting of the candle, wax, flame and hand.

I took my time painting this, focusing on capturing realism as well as I could.

There’s something about fire, staring into the flames, and especially candles at night which I find mesmerising.
