Kipling Gardens Plein Air Painting
Kipling Gardens Plein Air Painting
This is my plein air painting from today from inside Kipling Gardens, situated in the historic village area of Rottingdean, Sussex, England. Named after Joseph Rudyard Kipling, who was an English journalist, short-story writer, poet, and novelist. He lived on the grounds for 5 years as he wrote. One of his works of fiction was ‘The Jungle book’.
I cycled along the coast from Brighton to get there. There’s plenty of good spots to paint around here, so I will be back again.
Two ladies came up to me to see my painting after I was finished. The much older lady who looked like she was in her 80’s said “Well look at that, what a charming little gate!” and said I could make my painting into a Birthday card, and that it should be displayed somewhere.
I painted this in watercolour & gouache, on Aquarelle Watercolour pad, 5.9” x 8.3” (heavyweight)
